Samsung SMT feeders are key components for their pick-and-place machines, available in both older pneumatic and modern intelligent electric versions to suit various production needs.
Types of Samsung SMT Feeders
Samsung, now part of Hanwha, primarily offers two main series of tape feeders: the older pneumatic (SMN) and the modern electric (SME).
SME Electric Feeders: These are the current standard, offering higher precision, faster operation, and better reliability by using electric motors for component advancement. They are compatible with the latest Hanwha machines and many legacy Samsung models like the SM481 and SM471. The intelligent ("IT" or "PI-S") versions offer automatic pitch recognition and reduced setup times.
SMN Pneumatic Feeders: These are older, mechanically driven feeders that use compressed air to operate. They are generally less expensive but also less precise and slower than SME models. They are compatible with older CP series and some early SM series machines.
Other Feeder Types: Samsung also produces vibratory feeders for odd-shaped or larger components supplied in tubes or trays, and stick feeders for ICs in tube packaging.
